 Introduction - 

Guru Teg Bahadur was born in Punjab in 1621. to the Hargobind Sahib, the sixth guru. Indian culture is at the top of the history of the world, there are many civilizations and cultures due to their many characteristics. The sacrifice of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji is a proud and indelible chapter in our hútary. 

He was the ninth Guru. He was first named Tyag mal but latex came to be known as Tegh Bahadur after participating in the wax" against the Mughal and showing bravery He was trained in several skills such as archery and horsemanship. He also learned about doing Hindu literature including the Vedas, the Spanish and the Puranas. He was a great spirit of the world. 


Journey of GuruTegh Bahadur - 

Guru Tegh Bahadur travelled in different parts of the county, Dhaka and Assam to preach the teaching of Nanak, the first Sikh guru. During his travels, Guru Tegh Bahadur spread the Sikh ideas and murage, as well as started community water well so langar. The Guru made the successive visit to the cartouche on 21 august 1664. the second visit was on 15 October 1664 and the third visit concluded a fairly extensive journey through the northwest Indian subcontinent 


The teaching of Guru Tegh Bahadur

SIKH GURUS . . . . 

  • Guru Nanak Dev (1469-1539) - He was the founder of Sikh Religion. 
  • Guru Angad (1539-1552) - He started Gurumukhi language that is the writing script Sikh Religion. 
  • Guru Amardas (1552-1574) - He demolished many social evils like stoppage of child marriage, widow re-marriage etc. 
  • Guru Ramdas (1574-1581) - He discovered the Amritsar city by contributing 500 villages. Akbar had gifted him these villages. 
  • Guru Arjan Dev (1581-1606) - He built Golden Temple and also wrote Aadigranth. At last, he was executed by Emperor Jahangir. 
  • Guru Hargobind (1606-1645) - He placed Akal Takht in the Golden Temple.
  •  Guru Har Rai (1645-1661) 
  • Guru Harikishan (1661-1664) Many schools were built across the country by the names of Hari Kishan. 
  • Guru Tegbahadur (1664-1675) - Emperor Aurangzeb sentenced his death Guru Gobind Singh (1675-1708) – He started Khalsa Panth. . . . .



GURU TEGH BAHADUR 

  • Guru Tegh Bahadur born on 18 April 1621 was the ninth of ten Gurus of the Sikh religion. Tegh Bahadur continued in the spirit of the first guru, Nanak; his 116 poetic hymns are registered in Guru Granth Sahib. 
  • Guru Tegh Bahadur resisted the forced conversions of Kashmiri Pandits and non-Muslims to Islam and was publicly beheaded in 1675 on the orders of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb in Delhi for himself refusing to convert to Islam and saving Kashmiri Pandits 

EARLY LIFE 

  • The Sixth Guru, Guru Hargobind had one daughter Bibi Viro and five sons: Baba Gurditta, Suraj Mal, Ani Rai, Atal Rai and Tyaga Mal. Tyaga Mal was born in Amritsar in the early hours of 18 April 1621, who came to be known by the name Tegh Bahadur (Mighty Of The Sword), given to him by Guru Hargobind after he had shown his valour in a battle against the Mughals. 


  • Guru Tegh Bahadur was brought up in Sikh culture and trained in archery and horsemanship. He was also taught the old classics such as the Vedas, the Upanishads and the Puranas. He preferred prolonged spells of seclusion and contemplation. Tegh Bahadur was married on 3 February 1633, to Mata Gujri. 


  • In the 1640s, nearing his death, Guru Hargobind and his wife Nanaki moved to his ancestral village of Bakala in Amritsar district, together with Tegh Bahadur and Mata Gujri. 


  • After Guru Hargobind's death, Tegh Bahadur continued to live in Bakala with his wife and mother. He spent most of his time in meditation, but was not a recluse, and attended to family responsibilities. He made visits outside Bakala and visited the eighth Sikh guru Guru Har Krishan when the latter was in Delhi. 

  • In August 1664 a Sikh Sangat arrived in Bakala and anointed Tegh Bahadur as the ninth guru of Sikhs. The Sangat was led by Diwan Durga Mal, and a formal "Tikka ceremony" was performed by Bhai Gurditta on Tegh Bahadur conferring Guruship on him. 


  • As had been the custom among Sikhs after the execution of Guru Arjan by Mughal Emperor Jahangir, Guru Tegh Bahadur was surrounded by armed bodyguards. He himself lived an austere life. 


  • In 1675 Guru Tegh Bahadur was executed in Delhi on 11 November under the orders of the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. 


  • Guru Tegh Bahadur was kept in jail for four months in Sarhind, then transferred to Delhi in November 1675. There he was asked to perform a miracle to prove his nearness to his God. 

  • After his "failure to perform a miracle", he was asked to convert to Islam. He refused. He was publicly beheaded in Chandni Chowk, a market square close to the Red Fort.
