  9. My Summer Vacation Short Story: The month of June was; Summer was at its peak. From morning till night, a hot wind named 'Lu' continued to blow. The sun came out early and I got up.
  10. People were already on the streets. It seemed like everyone wanted to finish their day's work as soon as possible. What I needed the most was a refreshing cold shower.
  11. But unfortunately, the water in the tap was not cold enough. I asked my servant to bring some water from the well as it was cooler than the tap water.
  12. After bathing I had breakfast with other people in the house. I could not enjoy breakfast. I desperately wanted to drink a glass of cold milk and lemonade.
  13. Around 9 o'clock, my father had an appointment with the doctor. He wanted to get me examined. He took me on his bike and went to the hospital.
  14. The hospital was not far from our house, yet the distance seemed very long. By then the streets were empty. Very few children could be seen playing on the street; Although sun or rain doesn't matter.
  15. People were closing their doors and windows, fearing heatstroke. We reached the hospital, as the father was riding his bike, he was sweating all over.
  16. His face had turned red. The doctors were not inside, though his clinic was open and the fan was running at full speed. We sat under the fan. Papa was very thirsty. He drank two glasses of cold water.
  17. After half an hour the doctor came. He examined me thoroughly and finally said that there is nothing to worry about.
  18. As we were returning home, my body was burning with heat. At home, my mother felt my forehead. She said I had a high temperature.
  19. Soon I practically faint, after that the only thing I remember is a doctor sitting by my side and my mother giving me a cold sponge.
  20. I was down with sunstroke. Even today I shudder at the thought of that scorching summer day.
