A man by nature is a gregarious creature. He loves to socialize, to amuse, and be entertained. In fact, it's rightfully said, "All work and no play make Jack a dull boy". Entertainment be it in any form like playing games, watching movies, or going for a picnic, acts as a tonic in our lives.

It provides the much-needed change so that life does not become a drudgery of routine. Social scientists have conclusively demonstrated the positive impact of such relaxation, which allows one to get back to work with renewed vigour.

It's on account of the positive impact it has on people, some progressive organizations encourage their employees to go on vacation, expeditions, sightseeing, etc. This enriches the individual and consequently the society.


Vast paths of entertainment result in economic growth.


The last century has been a witness to a boom, in the many avenues of entertainment. We have come a long way from when; entertainment was confined to theater and sports. Today there are various types of amusement, at our doorsteps such as TV, cable TV, radio, internet, etc.

Other forms of entertainment include theatre, sports, expeditions, and moving on exotic vacations, etc. The vast avenues of entertainment have opened up enormous potential for the growth and economic development of society.

The positive impact of entertainment in education, the cultural and social life of the individual and the society.

The enormous boom in this field has made a direct impact on the consciousness level of childhood today. They are better educated and educated than their predecessors. While team activities like games and expeditions inculcate team spirit and develop social value and social skills, television and radio provide a fillip to their consciousness level.

They also help in distributing, desirable cultural, and social norms, and values the new millennium has witnessed the advent of a strong medium of education and entertainment, through the net.

This shall indeed prove to be a boon to students for self-development and career planning. Society in turn is more progressive and enjoys a higher standard of living than in the past.

The only disturbing element of this boom is the slow degeneration of moral values in society.

This is a result of the over-exposure of violence and sex to impressionable minds. So great is the attraction of some media like Cinema, Television and the Internet that people become hooked on it. This is indeed very harmful as it distracts them from their work and studies, which makes them lead the life of a recluse.

The most devastating consequence of overindulgence is, that if people try to emulate their role models in films and TV it ultimately leads them to offence. It's not unusual to see, many a budding career get snuffed out, even before it can bloom.


Conclusion -- Enriches society


Notwithstanding the above, the significance and the role of entertainment in our lives cannot be diminished. Some restraint on the part of the individual and effective controls by the authorities can make this moderate helpful in enhancing society and the lives of the person immensely.
